Reverb11: 5 Minutes

(I loved Reverb10, where I was sent a writing prompt every day of December. It was a great way to reflect on the year and set some goals. Alas, Reverb11 is not going to happen unless I do it. So, I’ve collected the prompts from last year, exchanged a few of my own, and will select one every day.)

Prompt: 5 minutes.Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2011 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about the year.

This was the year you had your first paying client. She was sweet and bubbly, and wrote about waving to the late Steve Jobs when he walked past her house.

This was the year of The Star card and the 7 of Wands.

This was the year you went home for Thanksgiving, and left thinking the trip was too short.

This was the year you started to write a murder-mystery novel about a college counselor. And plotted another.

This was the year you went to Portland with your girlfriends and realized that time and geography don’t matter with true sisters of the heart.

This was the year you read three poems at a poetry reading.

This was the year you presented at a conference– twice!

This was the year you made your first tincture and became even more obsessed with herbalism.

This was the year you went to Mexico to celebrate a wedding and did battle with a frog, a bat, and being vegan in another country.

This was the year you realized you should always plan something special for your wedding anniversary.

This was the year you grew things and didn’t kill them.

This was the year you signed up for FabMo and tripled your fabric stash.

This was the year you saw Anything Goes on Broadway – and walked through Times Square to get there!

This was the year you did the 17 Mile Drive with your husband and saw seal lions and otters close up.

This was the year you caned marmalade, raspberry jam, and tomato sauce – and loved it!

This was the year you touched your toes in seated forward bend.

P.S. Last year I wrote this.
