Reverb13: Future Self

(For the past three years, I’ve used Reverb10 prompts for every day of December. It’s a great way to reflect on the year and set goals for the future. I’ve kept my favorite prompts, added a few from other sources, and created my own month of questions.)

Future Self. Imagine yourself 5 years from now. What advice would you give yourself?

Well, you just finished graduate school, congratulations! I hope that you still have that envelope you made for yourself before you sent off the application. Interesting things, magic envelope spells, they seal up so much energy in such benign looking packages. Open that little guy up and take a peek. I want it all to come back to you. The full moon, the fire in the fireplace, the plate covered in tin foil to catch the colored wax, the last minute addition of dill that turned out to be just right. You put such focus into that working, and it had such immediate, positive effects. Remember how powerful you are, how much your will can move if you let it have full reign. Remember all that and say thank you- perhaps another donation to the American Indian College Fund is in order? Whatever it is, say thank you in a big way … and then, then take a moment to set your sites again. If you can pull this off just think of what else you can do! Perhaps you have already given this some thought. Perhaps you graduated earlier than expected and opened up that envelope to release that energy a while ago. However it has happened, I only care that the lesson was learned, learned way down in your bones. You can do anything. Anything. Just decide what it is and give it all your will and concentration. You can’t fail.

Cheers –
Your Ghost of Reverb Past
