(For the past four years, I’ve used Reverb10 prompts to give myself a question to answer every day of December. It’s a great way to reflect on the year and set goals for the future. I’ve kept my favorite prompts, added a few from other sources like Project Reverb and created my own month-and-a-bit of questions.)
One Word. Encapsulate the year in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. What’s the word for next year?
This last year’s word needs to be fearless. Although it wasn’t easy, I jumped with both feet into the unknown. I leapt off a cliff and instead of falling, flew. Fly. That’s another word. A good word to encapsulate the sensation of whizzing away from San Jose for the last time. Of getting offered the job that was better than expected. For all the damn flights back and forth. Launch might also work. I was launched out of my safe little life and had to grow wings!
This next year I choose playful. I want to have more fun than last year, not be so serious. I want to stay flexible. After all, I got here by being more open than I would have thought possible. I want to make stuff. And meet new people. And try new things. I want to play in my new town.
(Last year I wrote this.)
